National Trails Day is June 3, 2017!

FullSizeRenderAustin Parks Foundation, Hill Country Conservancy, and Texas Conservation Corps partner to host Austin’s local National Trails Day (NTD), the American Hiking Society’s nationwide trails awareness program, every year on the first Saturday in June.

In addition to trail work projects, we also provide several educational opportunities to take guided hikes at some of Austin’s favorite and hidden trails. Volunteers and community members improve the trails, and discover some of Austin’s most beautiful places!

Help us maintain and improve your local trail by volunteering for one of our National Trails Day projects. Check out the full list of projects to find one that’s right for you, and be sure to recruit your friends, neighbors and co-workers. The more the merrier! Questions? Check out the volunteer FAQ page, or email us at

Note: Volunteer registration for National Trails Day will open in late Spring 2017 – check back soon!

Interested in supporting National Trails Day? We recruit corporate sponsors to support this event, and many companies also contribute employees’ volunteer time. By pitching in to help with spring maintenance activities such as spreading mulch, planting trees, clearing trails, and painting benches, participants play a significant role in the management and upkeep of our parks. Many of our volunteers become committed stewards of our public spaces by adopting their park and participating in fundraising and park improvement projects throughout the year.
