Republic Square Park Project Receives $50K Grant Award

APF is proud to announce that we have received a $50,000 grant from the Georgia B. Lucas Foundation Fund at Austin Community Foundation for our Republic Square Park Capital Project. Located at the intersection of Guadalupe and Fourth streets, adjacent to the Federal Courthouse, Republic Square is one of three remaining downtown historic squares. The park’s redevelopment is a unique partnership with APF, the Downtown Austin Alliance and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department.

The new design will be based around a circular promenade which connects pedestrians to all four corners of the park and creates a central lawn for activities. Bathroom amenities, lighting for nighttime use and a café-style food and beverage concession building will also be added. Most importantly, we will preserve the historic features of the park including the Auction Oaks.

Thank you Austin Community Foundation for contributing to this historic redevelopment and for allowing us to create meaningful change in downtown Austin. Learn more about the Republic Square renovation project here.
