This park is beautiful and awesome but the parking is awful. The line of people waiting for spaces always backs up into the busy two lane road. The city could easily clear some space along the road to increase parking.

Yes, they could; but then that would cut into the money they make from parking tickets.

We love this park and frequent it with our two dogs. On today’s trip we found a rubber lure complete with a rusty hook on the pathway and when we got home found a three pronged hook tangled in our dog’s hair. It’s unfortunate that a fisherman, in an area heavily utilized by dogs, would carelessly leave hooks lying around on shore.

There are few parks for off-leash dog walking and swimming, and Red Bud is one of the better one. They should ban fishing from this park. Fishermen have plenty of other places to fish.

The park off Riverside and I-35 is called Norwood, and Auditorium Shores definitely has a designated off leash area. If you’re looking south of the river you might also try Zilker, Mary Moore Searight, or Onion Creek, but the full list is available from the City of Austin’s Parks & Recreation Dept. here: http://www.austintexas.gov/department/leash-areas
