Lifeguard Hiring Incentive Program

We are excited to partner with the Aquatic Division to offer the first ever Lifeguard Hiring Incentive program.

Over 750 lifeguards need to be hired for the summer season in order to safely operate Austin’s municipal pools. The goal of this partnership is to provide an incentive for the first 500 lifeguards that are hired, trained and work the first week of the summer swim season. The incentive is a $100 bonus that will be paid to lifeguard employees in the form of a VISA gift card.

Potential lifeguarding candidates are encouraged to attend an upcoming Hiring Day at the Aquatic and Training Facility.

Applicants should bring a valid photo ID and social security card with them in order to complete an application, interview and register for any required training. The applicants are free to come and go during these events, and light refreshments will be provided. Wages for lifeguards, cashiers and swim instructors are dependent upon the position and age of the applicant, and starting pay ranges from $8.00 – $10.25 an hour.
