Support our Barton Springs Tree Fund
The Austin Parks Foundation has pledged $100,000 for planting trees in and around the Barton Springs Pool area. The foundation also announces the establishment of a fund for tree care (including treating existing heritage trees) and planting new trees in and around the pool at Zilker Park. Individuals and businesses are invited to support the Barton Springs Tree Fund.
Many citizens are concerned about the planned removal of some of the mature trees in the Barton Springs area of Zilker Park. The recently released Barton Springs Pool Tree Assessments report paints a dire picture of the health of these trees. While the proper action for the city to take in this matter remains to be determined, one fact is certain: we need to plant more trees. Ensuring the long-term arboreal beauty of Barton Springs requires younger trees to be planted now for future generations.

Find the Perfect Park
Is there an off-leash park in my area? Which parks have swimming pools? We've added a new feature to our celebrated Find-A-Park website that lets you answer these questions and more. Now you can search for parks by amenity, as well as by zip code, area, or name. Of course, it's also fun just to browse the random selection of parks and pictures that show up in the sidebar. A big thanks to our volunteer programmer, Roger Meador, and to all those who have contributed text and photographs! Check it out.
