Theme and Design Parameters
Create a wholly original design that would appeal to the modern, unique, ACL audience (males & females). We are mainly looking for t-shirt designs, but we may also adapt artwork for use on hats, bandanas, water bottles, stickers, mobile device covers and other merchandise items.
All designs must include:
- The phrase “Austin City Limits Music Festival” and the Austin Parks Foundation. Austin City Limits and Austin Parks Foundation need not be in official logo type but if you would like to use them, they can be downloaded here:
Other than the specific guidelines listed above and also below in the Production Specifications, pretty much anything goes. Be inspired by ACL, its 10th anniversary, Austin Parks Foundation, the artists playing, Austin, music in general, pop culture, nature, your roommate, sports, food, animals, fashion, space, sunsets, you get the picture. Most of all be CREATIVE and ORIGINAL.
The following elements will render a design unusable:
- Anything that can be recognized as copyrighted material (e.g., logos, characters, brand names, other people’s artwork, etc.)
- Names, photos or drawings of celebrities or their likenesses (politicians excluded)
- Names, photos or drawings of any bands or performers, regardless of whether they are playing at ACL
- Anything that can be construed as racist, hateful or offensive
- Profanity
- Pornography
Production Specifications
- Each design must be able to be separated into individual spot colors. Please limit your design to no more than four (4) spot colors. Also, note that while we fully respect your aesthetic sensibilities, we may alter the final colors.
- For t-shirts, keep in mind the limitations of the screen-print process. Do not submit designs intended to cover the entire front and/or back or that wrap over shoulders or around sleeves. Printing on the sides and bottoms is usually okay.
- It doesn’t matter how you initially create it, but it must ultimately be put into a high-resolution digital format. See below for specific format instructions.
