Description: Resting in the middle of historic Clarksville, the beautiful topography of this park makes it a West Austin treasure.
West Austin Park is home to one of Austin's few fenced off-leash dog areas, now newly revamped (August 07). There's plenty for non-dog owners to enjoy, too, including pool, playscape and more. The volunteer "Canine Social Club" has raised funds to improve and maintain the off-leash area.
As of August, 2007, the off-leash area renovations are substantially complete. Beautiful native rock work, terracing, and lots of seating have been added, creating a wonderful place for neighbors and their canine companions to socialize.
Thanks to all who have contributed money or volunteered time to help this effort. This group has raised over $13,000. through neighborhood fund raisers, donations and City grants. The renovations will likely use all of this money and possibly more.
The Canine Social Club seeks volunteers to spread mulch and do some planting, etc. If you would like to participate please contact Sandra Grimes (with Mozart) in the park or call 472-3774.
