The stage at Symphony Square

Description: Symphony Square consists of a picturesque outdoor theater, including a museum, with bordering restaurant and bar. On summer evenings a variety of local artists perform, usually musicians, to enthusiastic family audiences.

Waller Creek flows between the performers and the audience; its limestone construction suggests a medieval moat. The trail north and south along Waller Creek is wonderful for exploring.

In summer, the Austin Symphony Orchestra produces the Children's Day Art Park every Wednesday. This exciting summer program features local musicians, dancers, storytellers, magicians, mimes and crafts people. Youngsters can visit the Instrument Petting Zoo (where they can see, touch and try to play the instruments), talk to symphony musicians and hear them play their instruments, see a Ballet Folklorico, hear a Latin jazz band, follow a real Pied Piper along the Lemonade Trail to the Magic Oak Tree and try their hands at different art projects under the Art Tent.
