Walter E. Long Metropolitan Park encompasses Walter E. Long Lake (formerly Dekker Lake).The lake is large and a popular fishing site. Kayaks can be rented; motor boats, mostly for fishing, are common.

This portion of Shoal Creek Greenbelt runs roughly from Duncan Park at 9th St. down to Town Lake. At 5th street, the trail peters out briefly, and you can travel in the creek bed or come up to the street.

Description: This area is managed by Water Quality rather than the Parks Dept. A 5 mile bike and horse friendly trail is now open - it was built and is managed by the Austin Ridge Riders
