For many years, Friends of the Park has made the restoration and care of Mayfield Park their concern. Volunteers are always needed. Visit their website for a complete history of the gardens and information on guided tours and upcoming events.

In 2007, Friend of the Park received a grant from Austin Parks Foundation to care for the majestic oaks in the formal garden area. Don't forget to look up!

Friends of Mayfield Preserve focuses on the preserve, including trails and ecological restoration projects. Recently all ligustrum and other invasive plants were completely removed from this 22 acre nature preserve thanks to many volunteers and grants from APF and the Urban Forest Program. The goal is to remove all invasive plants and work to keep them out. A Mayfield Stewards program has been implemented in which volunteers walk the preserve regularly to look for and remove any of the 15 invasive plants identified in the preserve. Contact Nadene Morning (see below) to get more information on this program.
