Movies in the Park

Alamo Drafthouse is sponsoring a special series of outdoor movies for the whole family. Hurricane evacuees are specially invited to these FREE events, and everyone is welcome.

October 4th - Raiders of the Lost Ark

October 11th - Shrek

Entertainment begins at 7pm, movies start at dusk - about 7:30pm. See our Movies in the Park page for details.

Giant Chess

Knee-High Chess is available for public use at Wooldridge Square every Saturday, from 12:30pm-3:30pm (subject to availability of the park). No skill needed - learn the game on a large scale or play a collaborative game with other enthusiasts.

Fire Museum at Brush Square

A new Austin Fire Museum opened spring, 2005 in Austin Fire Department's Fire Station #1, located in the northwest corner of Brush Square Park. The museum is managed by the nonprofit Austin Fire Department Historical Society and staffed by firefighters volunteering their time while off-duty. 

Austin Farmers' Market

Every Saturday , from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with multitudes of local growers, producers, activities and organizations for your enjoyment. The Austin Farmers' Market is held at Republic Square Park (4th and Guadalupe).

O. Henry Museum

The O. Henry Museum offers a look into the life of William Sidney Porter, the man who became famous under the pen name O. Henry. Museum Hours are 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday - Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday. Call 472-1903 or visit the O. Henry Museum web site for more information.

The O. Henry Museum is located in Brush Square, 409 East Fifth Street.
